Effects of mass wasting are;

  • Leads to formation of scars which may leave the land exposed to agents of erosion.
  • May lead to soil erosion leaving the land bare and infertile.
  • May lead to formation of new landforms e.g depressions which may be filled with water to form lakes
  • Landslides may change the course of a river leading to insufficient supply of water downslope
  • May lead to formation of fertile soils at the foot of the slope making such places suitable for crop cultivation
  • Some forms of mass wasting like landslides may bury people and lead to loss of lives and destruction of property.
