You need to pay Ksh. 1500 via NHIF Mpesa paybill to have your account activated. Then wait for three months before the card can become active. This applies to anyone who has not contributed for more than 12 months.
To activate an NHIF account or card if you have not been paying for several months, then you are required to visit your nearest NHIF office and make a three months payment of Ksh. 1500 to activate your account.
If you lost, changed your phone number or you used a wrong phone number during registration then you need to visit NHIF office to have your phone number updated. You can also try to login later to rule out any network issues at the time of login.
If you are self-employed, NHIF contributions are Ksh. 500 per month. Dial *155# and follow the steps that appear in your phone to register or pay NHIF monthly contributions.
NHIF Card is issued free of charge for active members. It takes three months (60 days) for your NHIF membership to be active. If you are self-employed, contributions are Ksh. 500 per month.
