Can one skip one semester to study later before graduating

If you started attending classes almost to the end of the semester and do just one cat out of two/three and not qualify to do the end of semester exams ,,can you continue with the next semester and leave the previous one for later before graduating

You can skip a semester but you must find time to cover the semester that you skipped before graduation. However, in some courses like medicine, they are strict, you are not allowed to skip a semester.
