The publishing of Outstanding Student Leaders of the month is designed to identify student leaders who, through their dedicated leadership, have made significant contributions to addressing student concerns in campus. These leaders have consistently and unselfishly given themselves in efforts to enhance the spirit of the student community.

It is vital to note the difference between our yearly top 100 most influential students and monthly most outstanding student leaders.

 

1. Grace Mumbi Kawala

Grace Mumbi Kawala was elected as the special needs secretary in the 2015/2016 Kenyatta University student elections. For more than four months, Grace has been tirelessly advocating for fair treatment of students with disability. She has addressed several forums, relentlessly challenging the education system to ensure students with mobility issues like her get facility enhancement and assistance.

2. Catherine Opiyo

Catherine Opiyo is the chairperson for Masinde Muliro University student Organization. She is the first female student of MMU to hold such position.   She has served as a powerful voice for democracy and women in leadership.  She has been featured in several publications for her outstanding leadership.

3. Vera Chepkorir Moraa

She is the health director of Moi university student organization (MUSO).   She was ranked number two among the top 100 most influential students of the year 2016. She has made outstanding contributions to the health status in Moi University. During, the reported outbreak of Hepatitis in Mo University main campus she acted quickly to ensure the spread of the disease was controlled.  She has also led a number of protests to demand for the improvement of Moi University Health Care system.

4. Rutto  Dickson

Chuka University has provided some of the worst student leaders in university student leadership history. However, Rutto  Dickson who is the current Secretary General of Chuka University Students Association has proven us wrong. He has always been in touch with students and made every effort to address their concerns.
